I watch a lot of marketers, and what ever business you might be in you should be studying others that are experiencing good results because success leaves clues. Study other marketers, most of them are nice enough to sell you some of their techniques, but really watch what they do as they are selling you those techniques. It’s not mysterious at all, and it’s much more than just a numbers game.
The key word in this section’s title is “automatically”, and if you’re new this might not be something that you have really considered. You may have heard the phrase “the money’s in the backend” or “continuity” is the way to go, but let’s really look at what we’re building here. Just think before the Internet existed the life of one of your special reports would be a couple of days, and at that, the likelihood of someone mailing your special report to a friend was slim to none. Now, your special reports live forever. Think of every piece of content you create as an employee that works for you 24/7, never gets sick, has a bad attitude or arrives late. And yes, they live forever bringing you business as long as you want to stay in business.
Doesn’t that concept make you want to pay to have someone create 400 mini articles (employees) for you? Doesn’t that content make you want to make sure your content gets to as many places as possible using tools like TrafficGeyser, success leaves clues. A commercial on television runs for a couple of seconds and may or may not reach your (Tivo equipped) audience. A video on the Internet runs whenever an interested person plays it. Aha, you reached them. You have their undivided attention and they were looking for you.
Decision time. You know that you want to make money through using social media. But you have to decide do you want to promote your own brand or another’s. If you are more inclined to promote other’s brands then you should find an affiliate offer that makes you want to wet your pants with excitement. I would recommend a particular company, but it is best for you to research and find one. Resource links will be provided at the end of this chapter.
A lot of success depends on being in the right place at the right time and taking the right actions. There are a few websites at the moment that the search engines love, and so if you want you employees “pieces of content” to be working anywhere, then it should be in these places. The places that are most social are the ones that the search engines seem to love, because the search engines are providing the service of returning the best results. That is why social bookmarking websites are so dangerous. And it’s also why putting your great content in multiple places is great.
Okay, here are a few websites that will get your content noticed in the search engine in order or “current” importance.
Youtube.com
Hubpages.com
Scribd.com
Squidoo.com
Slideshare.com
Wetpaint.com
Flickr.com
Photobucket.com
Dailymotion.com
Viddler.com
Quizilla.com
Swik.net (It’s a search engine in itself)
Mylot.com
Here’s another thing to think about, third party reviews that are framed around the concept that you tried something out and it worked for you or it was worth the money sell better than self promoting. So here’s a cool trick that I learned. If you want to promote an affiliate offer effectively at any of these websites use the “inside the belly of the beast technique”. Basically shoot a video talking about your results beginning with your fears and reservations. Using screen capture software for digital products is golden. Everyone wants to see what they are getting.
Now, Squidoo did suffer a hit in the search engine rankings because it was being spammed a lot. The founder Seth Godin, recently explained that the website is regaining its authoritative status with the search engines because they have eliminated the spamming. If you release articles a part of your marketing strategy Ezinearticles is a great spot to put them, but it is not integrated with the SOCIAL capabilities that Squidoo has and that its developers continue to improve.
You make money with these automatically because they get ranked within a couple of hours. No more manually submitting your website, no more setting up search engine pinging services, and no more trouble with being found. Because these sites are social, people (the people you want to find you) hang out on them.
